“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and
teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And
surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20
Chae Young Shim was born in South Korea. In her life journey, God brought her to Providence, RI, to attend Johnson and Wales University. She is studying in the culinary field. Last trimester, “Erin,” as we call her, was invited to Bible Talk by some of the brothers from our church.
From day 1, Erin was a smiling, bright light – spreading joy and forming friendships. She began to study the Bible. She has believed in God for years. However, as she thought through her own issues of sin, repentance and baptism – she made the decision to be immersed for the forgiveness of sins and to receive
the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38).
On Sunday morning, June 3, Erin was surrounded on stage by JWU Bible Talk friends – Quan, Eddie, Myles, Shakira and Coty. Others like Vic, Marian and Jerry were in the crowd. Anita Allen, Jiayin Sperry and Jenny Contreras shared about their love for Erin’s heart to please God. Erin herself spoke of her decision with her trademark big smile.
After confessing “Jesus is Lord” – Erin was baptized and the crowd on earth and in heaven (Luke 15:10) rejoiced. “I Have Decided To Follow Jesus” was sung and then hugs ensued. Following service, the entire JWU crew went out to eat lunch and share their appreciation for Erin.
God truly does make disciples of all nations. His Spirit certainly does bind us together in His love.
