The New England School of Missions is a program where young disciples who are desiring ministry or somewhat new in the ministry are being trained to be sent out to serve around New England and across the world. Doug Arthur, Kevin Miller and Val Koha work tirelessly with them over the course of each year, and more and more passionate disciples are being raised up and inspired to change the planet for Jesus.
On Monday, November 2, in connection with a NESM goal – nine of these young men and women spent all or part of a day sharing in Providence, helping us make connections with college-age students who can be influenced for Christ.
The day began with about two hours sharing on the campus of Rhode Island College, our church’s new meeting location home. After a quick lunch, we all journeyed down to Thayer Street and Brown University for another 2 ½ hours of meeting new people and beginning conversations about God. The day concluded back at RIC, where a Bible Talk was held at 6:30 PM in the Student Union.
After only 2+ hours of sharing on this campus, 12 guests showed up for the Bible Talk led by Will Lambert, campus leader in the Southern Connecticut Church of Christ. It was so amazing to see a room filled with 25 or so people from one block of sharing. It shows that if we all work together and open our mouths – Christ really does have many people in our cities (Acts 18:10).
We are so thankful for Will and Kristen (Southern CT); Matt (UConn); Hannah (Worcester); Nick, Brianna, Frank, Melody, and Olivia (Boston). Several of our Providence disciples got to jump in on the boldness as well. Thanks to Jody, Anita, Jaiyin, Hakeen, Daniel, Esther, Hector and others for taking part of your day to share the greatest news there has ever been.
