Leo, Good Weather and Kick Ball Highlight First Cookout of the Summer

Each summer month, the Ocean State church hosts a cookout at Lincoln Woods State Park. The first of 2019 took place on June 14th.  As usual, Leo Mella was the head chef and went hard grilling sausages, chicken, burgers and dogs.  Plenty of other members chipped in bringing sides and desserts.

John Iiames, a visiting disciple from North Carolina, kicked off our festivities with a prayer.  Most quickly grabbed food and drinks and sat to talk.  Others, who were more adventuresome, went out into the large field for games of Frisbee, football and kick ball.

God’s love and His warm sun shone down on us, following a day of overcast skies.  A Bible study broke out on one end of the pavilion.  Many guests flowed in and out throughout the evening.

Finally, after 8:30 PM, we were run out by the park staff.  Clean up, trash detail and headlights closed out the night.  Fellowship is such a privilege, and Rhode Island’s summers are extremely beautiful.  God put them both together for a fantastic time at one of our church’s favorite spots.
