Professionals’ Ministry Leads in Church Service

On Sunday, December 8, our somewhat, newly formed professionals’ ministry led in the worship service of the Ocean State Church of Christ.  This ministry represents singles and young marrieds in the work-force trying to make a positive difference for God.

The worship began with a mixture of older songs (I Know That My Redeemer Lives and Lead Me To Some Soul Today) and contemporary ones (Our God is Greater and Deeper).  One young professional, John Frigo, led and played guitar.  Jasmin Chery, Carine Monteiro and Aaron Hebert welcomed us with announcements and an opening prayer.

The communion sharing came from two doctors – David Sam and Ashley Moye.  David gave us the head knowledge – what are the bread and juice about? Ashley provided the heart movement, with an open and emotional walk through her conversion story to finding Jesus.

The lesson for the morning was a duo-delivery.  Greg Chery and Admir Monteiro preached from the book of Ruth on the subject of “All I Want For Christmas Is . . . Favor.”  Some powerful points were proclaimed like . . . . How you are standing is more important than where you are standing. You must respond to God with humility, not bitterness or blindness.

We’re grateful for this new focus for professionals in our church.  Teens and campus students are vital to our church. Mature families are needed desperately.  But this niche of younger professionals just out of school and beginning new lives can connect with a huge group of millennials looking for answers.  May God bless their hearts and efforts for Him.
