On Sunday, June 2, the Ocean State Church took our annual pilgrimage out to Bristol’s Colt State Park. God sent us a beautiful and clear day. The outdoor service began at 10:30 AM. Some had biked in for the event. Most drove. But the day was special because this was our “Move for HOPE” day, raising money for the international charity, HOPE worldwide.
Following the 45-minute service, focused on the poor (Proverbs 19:17; Proverbs 14:31; Isaiah 58:7; James 1:9-10, 27; James 2:14-17 and more), the activities began. Some walked for HOPE. Some ran. Some played. Others biked. All had been challenged to raise funds for the poor, who can’t speak up for themselves.
Once the “Move” activities concluded, a picnic ensued. Food was shared. Music played. Frisbees were thrown. Soccer balls were kicked. And fellowship commenced. Deep into the afternoon, people stayed and played and prayed that God would do what only He can – help the poor, change our world and fill us with His light.
May we always desire to give others more HOPE!
