“The Power of Love” – Take 2 – Takes Off!
About a month ago, we planned an exciting neighbor day Sunday with a special service and meal to follow. Then we got hit by a blizzard and had to cancel the event. Not to be forever shut down, we rescheduled for Sunday, March 22, thinking that surely there would be no snow issues that late in the year. On March 21, we had a good snow. But thankfully, God provided this time for us to hold “The Power of Love” – Take 2 the following day at the French-American School of Rhode Island.
Ninety five people arrived for the one hour service. There was a thrilling mix of powerful singing, heart-felt sharing and preaching of God’s word. Shayne Purdue performed her emotionally gripping version of the song “Hallelujah.” Listen to it below.
After the service, we all marched downstairs to the cafeteria for an exquisite meal. The potluck featured everything from sandwiches to Cape Verdian delicacies. There was plenty for everyone. The room was alive with fellowship, laughter and connections being made. Several new people had come in just for the meal portion of the day.
At the end of the clean up and departure, the family group leaders got together to share good news and discuss how to move on from here in the further growth and maturity of our church. God has blessed us with a great start to the year. Easter Sunday is also approaching soon. Jesus will certainly carry His work on to completion in all of us (Philippians 1:6). Let’s be praying for that.
