Two Great Gifts – Baptisms as the Christmas Season Begins

One baptism is amazing. Two are miraculous presents of lives given back to God. On December 16, the Ocean State Church witnessed the immersions of both Nathaniel Silveira and Jahnelle-Lee Lewis.
Nathaniel Silveira is a teenager from North Attleboro, MA. His parents, Franklin and Roxana, have been members of our church from its beginning. Franklin has had intense health challenges throughout 2018. As he shared about what had been, in some ways, “the worst year of his life” – he concluded that with Nate’s baptism, it had become the best year of his existence.
Teen camp made a huge impact on Nathaniel about a year and a half ago. Since then, he has been seeking God. With the help of men like Sam Saarinen and Daniel Gifford, and the support of other teen friends – Nathaniel made this monumental decision. Nate has been a part of starting a Bible Talk for men his age, which takes place every Tuesday night at the Martins’ home.
Jahnelle-Lee Lewis is a college student at Johnson and Wales University. In her heart-felt sharing, she spoke of her hunger for God since an early age. She has found family, love and acceptance in Christ and the church here. Jahnelle-Lee was helped immensely by her Bible studies with Anita Allen, Asia Stevens and Carine Monteiro. She has also built tight bonds with the JWU Bible Talk crew.
Jahnelle-Lee spoke during our recent Thanksgiving sharing about her gratitude for Myles Bryan, who initially reached out to her on campus.
So many people have played huge parts in leading these two souls to God. We rejoice with the angels in heaven for their decisions and lives now devoted to Him.
