Leo Mella is a wild man. In 2016, he invited all of the men in our church to his home for breakfast to begin the new year. He forgot to tell us the event would be outside. We froze, but had fun, food and great fellowship.
So, we started an annual tradition. Now we call it, “The Polar Bear Breakfast,” and it will take place the first Saturday of every year rain, shine or snowstorm (which, of course, the Lord sent this year!).
The event was fantastic. Leo even relented a small bit and put a tiny heater that was a crowd favorite. Several guests came out and we all survived the frigid temperatures. Some people jump into freezing water. We now stand, eating all kinds of tasty foods and sharing what Jesus has meant to us and more.
A tradition has begun. And it was exceedingly fun.
