Campus and Teen Sharing Inspires Many at CACD Midweek

One of the exciting additions to every month for our church has been a Friday night devotional for the entire congregation at the Cape Verdian Association for Community Development (CACD) in Pawtucket. All of the adult members have come out with our children and many friends at 7:30PM for spiritual inspiration, games, fellowship and a whole lot of fun.

For our April Friday, several campus disciples shared about their recent retreat and one, brave young teenager spoke about the teen women’s night out. After some exciting singing (even one song led by Kevin Mahoney!) and an opening prayer (shared by Kenny Maldonado, who is here for a few months with a work assignment) – the evening proceeded with “one word” explained by each speaker. Hakeen Jacobs (RIC), Jasmine White (Brown), Hector Morales (Brown) and Jiayin Sperry (RIC) used varying words like “strong” and “priorities” to sum up their learning curve from a campus retreat featuring Sam and Geri Lang. Daniela Martins then told us about the teen event for women called, “It’s Complicated.” Her courage to speak was thrilling and her content was deep as she helped us see it is what God thinks that matters, not the opposite sex or our peer group.

Following the sharing, the kids went downstairs and the adults stayed upstairs for a thrilling game of Bible Trivia. The Double Edged team was able to squeeze by the Grapes of Wrath on the evening’s final question. That too encouraged us all to dig into God’s Word more deeply and know how to answer questions that may be sent our way.

Check out the pictures of some of those who shared. Let’s all be committed to being the family for each other God desires. We appreciate the hearts of all to come together on Friday nights to proclaim Jesus as Lord and learn more about Him.
