Charon Family From Worcester Inspires Ocean State Church
One of the joys of being a New England planting is the great support we receive in so many ways across the Northeast from various disciples and congregations. Recently, eight college age students came to town for five days of a campus swap program. Douglas Arthur, Tim Blake, Julius Ferrer and others have preached at our Sunday services.
On Sunday, March 29, Chris Charon – a medical doctor on the leadership team in Worcester – brought his amazing family of beautiful women to share for an extended communion service. Chris was born in Woonsocket, RI, and grew up in North Smithfield. His heart for and humorous stories about growing up in Rhode Island stirred our hearts for the state we get to serve God in.
The communion itself featured Chris’ wife, Michelle, and their four daughters doimg readings about how their lives would have been if Chris had never become a disciple. It was intense and illuminating. Their sharing highlighted how much God can take one soul and transform it and other generations to follow. We were all asked to remember what we were like when we were called and be humbled by the love, grace and power of Jesus and the cross (I Corinthians 1:26).
