Easter Sunday Points Ocean State Church To Jesus’ Bold Prediction

Easter Sunday Points Ocean State Church To Jesus’ Bold Prediction

On April 5, 2015, over 90 people gathered in the French American School of Rhode Island to worship God and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. An array of guests and members climbed the stairs on this special day to sing, pray and read about the greatest miracle of all time.

The hour-and-a-half gathering began, as is our custom, with many spirited songs. Leo Mella (Spanish) and Malcolm Fisher (English) prayed to begin our service. One new, contemporary hymn – “At The Cross” – highlighted the singing prior to our taking of communion. David Seavey shared powerfully about his own conversion and tied in Philippians 3 and the miraculous moving of Jesus at that time. As the trays were passed, the crowd was encouraged by Kelsey Koha, Jenna Allen and Sarah Allen performing, “Lead Me To The Cross.”

The lesson of the morning focused on “The Bold Predictions of Jesus,” including the most famous one (Matthew 17:22-23) regarding his resurrection. If Christ fulfilled that promise, then surely he will also come through on his ones toward us – His plans to prosper us (Jeremiah 29:11), to bring to completion His work in our lives (Philippians 1:6), and more.

The event concluded with exciting fellowship, with guests mingling and disciples lingering until the mid-afternoon. Several left for lunches with each other or other family members. But we all took with us the challenge to respond to Christ’s bold predictions with bold actions ourselves.
