Admir Monteiro, a native of Cape Verde, is passionate about all he does. He is presently getting his masters in engineering at the University of Rhode Island. On Sunday, November 8, he was born again of water and the spirit (John 3:5) to obey God’s call in an exciting service of the Ocean State Church of Christ at Rhode Island College.
Admir has been searching for God 100 miles an hour for the past many months. He is willing to talk with anyone at any place and at any time about Jesus. This past year, he began working with Kenny Cottrell of the Boston church one day a week. They formed a fast friendship and added in Rob Gomes to the Bible study threesome they formed.
Because Admir lives in Pawtucket, RI, and attends school in the ocean state – the brothers pulled in disciples from Rhode Island to form friendships and connect. At Admir’s immersion, about 10 friends and family members came out to witness the stirring event, showing already his high impact on many.
Admir has already jumped into attending the Brown University Bible Talk, sharing his faith and studying out God’s word. Even in his pre-baptism sharing, Admir made sure not to emphasize his own heart or his close friendships. He pointed everyone to Jesus and His love.
While we all admire Admir, he called us to admire way more the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Let’s all be inspired to do just that.
