Men’s Midweek Theme is “Be Strong in the Lord”

Once a month, the brothers meet for a midweek service. Typically these times involve discussion, sharing and a creative element. On Wednesday, August 3, the fellas met up at the home of Paulo Martins. The night began with 20 minutes of tug-a- war competitions in the back yard. Different groups of teams and individuals battled it out, testing their physical strength. Even the teens and pre-teens joined in.

After the physical exertion, the men moved inside to discuss what we learned about strength from the tugging. The lesson of the night came from II Chronicles 15-16. King Asa started off strong but ended up weak.

In that context, our theme scripture was II Chronicles 16:9, “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.”

With a great mix of disciples and several friends, the discussion was exciting and the bonding was deep. Most of all, many men left with convictions that we all want to be strong in the Lord for the long haul.
